The New York School of Design (NYSD) is dedicated to expanding the horizons of fashion education by fostering strategic international alliances. We are proud to highlight our premier global partnership with the University of New York in Prague (UNYP), a leading institution for English-language higher education in Central Europe.
Together, NYSD and UNYP have co-developed the Fashion Design Management Concentration, a unique, dual-credential pathway within UNYP’s Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program.
This collaboration bridges Europe’s thriving business landscape with the creative energy of Manhattan, offering students a powerful fusion of commercial mastery and hands-on design expertise.
Program Structure & the NYSD Residency
Spanning 3.5 years (7 semesters), the program is structured to give students a comprehensive, multi-continental education:
- Years 1 & 2 (Prague): Students build a world-class foundation in business at UNYP, mastering core concepts in marketing, finance, economics, strategy, and entrepreneurship.
- Year 3 (Prague & New York City): Students begin specialized fashion coursework. During Semester 6, students relocate to Manhattan for an immersive, extended residency at the New York School of Design.
- Final Semester (Prague): Students return to UNYP to complete their academic requirements, graduate, and launch their careers.
The NYSD Experience: Manhattan as a Classroom
During their NYC residency, students step out of the traditional classroom and directly into the heart of the global fashion industry. Immersed in NYSD’s state-of-the-art facilities, students will:
- Train in professional fashion design studios alongside industry-seasoned faculty.
- Explore essential concepts in creative development, garment refinement, and product development.
- Engage in intensive portfolio development to showcase their unique artistic vision.
- Attend exclusive industry workshops, guest speaker events, and fashion showcases, gaining direct exposure to New York’s elite fashion ecosystem.
Dual Credentials for a Competitive Edge
In today’s fast-paced market, the fashion industry demands leaders who understand both the creative process and the bottom line. Graduates of this program gain a distinct competitive advantage, earning two highly respected credentials:
- Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from the University of New York in Prague.
- Fashion Design Certificate from the New York School of Design.
This combination prepares graduates for diverse global career pathways, including Fashion Marketing, Brand Management, Retail & Merchandising, Product Development, and Fashion Entrepreneurship.
Exclusive Partnership Scholarships
To support global talent and ease the transition to studying abroad, NYSD and UNYP are pleased to offer an exclusive partnership scholarship. Enrolled students will receive financial support applied directly toward the NYSD portion of their tuition during their New York residency.
